Under the Child Maintenance and Other Payments Act 2008 (c. 6) (“the 2008 Act”), lump sum payments may be made to certain persons with diffuse mesothelioma or their dependants. The Mesothelioma Lump Sum Payments (Conditions and Amounts) Regulations 2008 (S.I. 2008/1963) (“the 2008 Regulations”) set out the conditions to be met for a lump sum payment to be made, along with the rates of payment.
